Overview of Physics Graduate Education Requirements

Kevin Wagoner, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Physics and Mathematics Major

Graduate Physics Education is a very diverse system across the country. Each graduate school has a unique curriculum in regards to classes, candidacy exams, and dissertation defense. There exists no publicly accessible database where all of this information exists. By collecting 181 graduate school websites and handbooks, Kansas State University researchers were able to create an initial database with all of this information. However, the data was difficult to parse for individuals outside the research group. This required additional efforts to adjust the dataset to make it presentable to general audiences.
