Application Information
Now Accepting Applications – 2026 Summer REU Program
We are pleased to announce that applications for our Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program are now open.
Please note: Admission offers for the upcoming summer are contingent upon renewal of program funding. We will review applications and prepare admissions decisions on our regular timeline, but final acceptance into the program will be confirmed once funding approval is secured.
We encourage interested students to apply early and check back for updates. Thank you for your interest in our REU program—we look forward to reviewing your application.
Applications are sought from undergraduate students who are interested doing physics research, and who are either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants should not yet have earned their B.A. or B.S. degrees.
The application will ask for the following information:
- name and email address of a person who will be submitting a letter of recommendation on your behalf (Please have your reference send the recommendation to reu@phys.ksu.edu - the system is not automated so they will have to e-mail us);
- your current cumulative GPA;
- unofficial transcript;
- brief personal statement (~3/4 page) that includes your academic and career goals, research interests, and why you would like to participate in our REU. It is beneficial to identify K-State faculty with whom you would be interested in working and explain why you would like to work with them (see available faculty members in the list of participating research areas at www.phys.ksu.edu/reu/). You will be asked to insert text directly online or to upload a file.
If you have any questions, e-mail reu@phys.ksu.edu.
